I deliver to a lot of hospitals/retirement homes. It’s 10:30am, and this is my 7th “scan”. A negative would result in me being barred from entry. 

Kinda-sorta free Healthcare...?

I can only think that mass testing is a bit stupid. Certainly a positive test results in taking positive measures to prevent further transmission, but a negative test is worse than a negative test for a venereal disease or AIDs. Its only good until the next contact with another person. Good. You don’t have COVID-19 today. Are you also not going to have it Friday?

Just venting. You are certainly in a line of work that needs this. There is a lab locally that has a drive through CV test and thousands of people are driving up to do it. It seems to me more to feed the mass hysteria than doing much for public health. C’est la vie.

I agree that reactive testing is a bad idea. However, I do wish we had random widespread testing (every 1,000 people, maybe?). Offer them a $5 Amazon gift card for coming in.

We need some idea of where this thing is, and as we’ve learned, once we have symptoms it’s too late for good, unbiased testing .

On one hand, we might scare people with more cases. On the other hand, the mortality rate will likely go way down...and we’ll have a better geographical handle on it.

also the missus and daughter are sposed to be flying over to the uk next weekend but im not so sure they’ll be able too.....lot of planes staying grounded now

Are they actually doing any kind of test or just asking you if you have any symptoms and calling it good?

Are they just scanning your temp?

Pretty pointless as you can asymptomatic for weeks. A lot of retirement  homes here have gone on full lockdown to outside entry.

But they say that you are infectious before you show symptoms, so a temp scan would be sort of worthless, wouldn’t it?
